We've decided to be more aggresive in dealing with Craigslist and eBay spam. The amount of scams out there will never stop amazing me. Hopefully our little update will help filter out most of this junk.
Next up...Social Media experts and domainers.

We've added the ability to detect and display images posted via TwitPic. Simply include the url in your Tweet and we'll find it.
What is the value of a search if you can't narrow it down by location? Well...not much. This is exactly why we've been working overtime trying to sort this issue out.
As of today, we have begun to store the location right along with our other information. Eventually this will lead to a more valuable search experience here at TwitShop. Search queries are being updated and tested behind the scenes and should hit the site soon.
It looks like our spam killer is doing the trick. Our first run knocked out close to 1200 tweets from the last 2 days. These tweets are completed removed from the database. Each tweet is now testing against a set of rules to determine the quality. We have also added the ability to block certain users all together. This alone knocked out a few hundred tweets.
It looks like the new "magic" we whipped up is doing a great job at grabbing more accurate tweets but now we have another probably...SPAMMERS! Ever since Twitter hit the mainstream, spammers have taken notice. A few new methods are in testing that will detect these mass tweeters and remove them from our search listings. After tonight we are aiming to reduce spam down to less than 1%.
More updates coming soon!
After spending a few days becoming familiar with the Twitter Search API, I think I have developed a solid road-map to where I see the site going. Major changes are going on behind the scenes, the largest of which will be the caching of search results. This will allow us to apply a bit more "magic" and give better targeted results with next to no spam.
Development of the new "Tweet Catcher" is almost complete and will hopefully be implemented in the next few days. Stay tuned...
